Effect of Calibration Factors on Full Scale and Alarms
•
Note that the instrument maximum full scale mass
concentration reading is not fixed at 100 mg/m³; it changes
when the Photometric Calibration Factor is changed. The
same is true with the Response Factor and response
concentration reading.
•
For instance, if a Photometric Calibration Factor of 2.00 is
chosen, all readings are multiplied by 2.00, and the effective
maximum mass concentration reading of the instrument is then
200 mg/m³. Similarly, if the Response Factor is set at 25%, all
mass concentration readings are multiplied by .25, and the
effective maximum response concentration reading of the
instrument is 50 mg/m
3
.

Since the range of selectable Photometric Calibration Factors is
0.10 to 10.00, the effective maximum full scale mass
concentration reading can be anywhere between 10.0 and
1000 mg/m³.
•
The selectable range of 0% to 100% for the Response
Factor limits the maximum response concentration to
between 0.00 mg/m
3
and the current full scale mass
concentration reading.
•
Since all alarms must be allowed to approach full scale, the
maximum alarm value is 999 mg/m³. This creates a situation
where the alarm values can be set higher than the maximum
reading. In this case, the instrument will never be able to read
high enough to trigger the alarm.
•
To prevent this situation, the instrument displays the message
“
Warning: Alarm value is out of range
” if you try to enter a
value that is out of range.
