10.3. Vacuum Pump
System configuration
This section describes maintenance of vacuum pumps of CaloSys modules working with pull principle
(see Section 11.1.2.). For instructions about maintenance of air supply pumps of CaloSys modules
working with push principle (see Section 11.1.1), see Section 10.2.
Chamber Block Change
10.3.1.
DANGER
Hazardous voltage
This system works at a hazardous voltage.
•
Changing of the pump chamber block must be carried out by suitably trained service personnel
only.
•
Always unplug the device from the mains before carrying out repairs and maintenance.
Pump blocks must be changed once a year, please contact
10.4. Exchanging Protection Air Filter
System configuration
This section describes maintenance of protection air filters of a CaloSys module working with (1) push
principle (see Section 11.1.1). Ensure that filters are inserted in the correct flow direction (see Section
11.9
. There is a flow direction arrow on the filter label. It also describes the maintenance of
protection air filters of a CaloSys module working with (2) pull principle (see Section 11.1.2). Ensure
that filters are inserted in the correct flow direction (i.e. reversed as compared to push principle).
There is a flow direction arrow on the filter label. Note that additional disk filters (see Section 10.5) are
included downstream of Air OUT of animal cages.
NOTICE
- Instrument damage!
If protection air filters are not replaced at regular intervals, contaminants could enter the
Control Units or vacuum pump and affect their functions or cause damage.
Prior to an experiment or daily (runtime: >24h), check protection air filters for discoloration. The filters
must be replaced when they show a light discoloration or when the flow rates in one or more cages
are decreasing but LATEST after six months. Failure to do so will void the warranty.
•
Power OFF the complete system and disconnect the air pumps from the mains supply.
•
Remove screw-nuts and tubings from used protection air filters.
•
Remove used filters from system.
Used filters…
…should be disposed of in accordance with your local waste disposal regulations.
•
Select new protection air filters.
•
Wrap threads of both protection filter ends with sealing tape.
•
Slightly screw down the screw nuts to both filter ends and pass a tubing end through each of
the screw nuts.
