Operating instructions
Before starting to use the device, it is essential that the
Operating Instructions and „Important Instructions“ be
read carefully.
The vehicle owner is responsible for ensuring
that the device can be operated in the proper manner.

Taking into operation
Before switching on, it is essential to make sure that the fuse
system for the power supply at the camp site is sufficient (230 V):
600 W / 1.7 A
1500 W / 3.0 A
2000 W / 4.4 A
In order to prevent the power cable for the caravan from
overheating (minimum cross-section 3 x 2.5 mm²) the
cable drum must be fully unwound.
To carry out the individual switching commands, the remote
control must always be pointed at the infra-red receiver.
1. Switch the Saphir vario on using button
„g”
on the remote
handset. The previous operating mode that was selected using
the remote control is automatically used.
2. Set the desired operating mode using the button
„a“.
FAN:
Ventilation only (without cooling).
COOL:
Cooling with 3 levels.
The blowing power and the interior temperature can be ad-
justed individually. The green indicator lamps on the receiver
indicate compressor operation and therefore cooling operation
with three levels.

= LED 1 + LED 2 (COOL HIGH)
3. If necessary, adjust the fan speed and the room temperature
to the required settings using buttons
„b”, „c”, „+”,
and
„-“.
When the room temperature that was selected using the remo-
te handset is reached in cooling mode, the compressor swit-
ches off and the green indicator lamps in the receiver go out.
The circulation fan continues to run in order to provide
ventilation. If the room temperature is exceeded the device
automatically reverts to cooling mode.
Switching off
To switch off, press the button
„g“
on the remote control once
again. To confirm the signal the green monitoring light will go
out.
If the air conditioning unit is switched on again within
approximately 3 minutes, the green indicator lamp
blinks. The recirculated air fan runs, and the compressor starts
up after a certain delay time (approx. 3 minutes).
During cooling operation, condensation water will form
on the evaporator. In order to counteract possible germ
formation, and to dry out the evaporator, the unit should be
run for about another 5 – 10 minutes in the „FAN“ and „HIGH“
setting.
Timer off
The air conditioning unit can be switched off automatically
up to 15 hours in advance using the integrated timer, starting
from the current time. It is not possible to pre-program the
system to a specific point in time.
To carry out programming, first switch the device to remote
control mode with the switch
„g“.
Then set the operating mode and the room temperature using
buttons
„a”, „b”, „c”, „+”,
and
„-“.
Then select the required switch-off time (1 – 15 hours) using
the
„e”
(TIMER) button.
After this,
do not switch
the device
off
with the remote
control.
To help save the batteries in the remote control, it is
possible (after
OFF
programming) to cover the infra-red
transmitter with the hand, and then switch off the remote con-
trol. This means that no signal will be sent to the device, and
the programming will be retained.
IR receiver and manual on/off
There is an additional pushbutton on the receiver (m), with
which the unit can also be switched on and off without the
remote control (e.g. with a ballpoint pen).

Red LED illuminates
The unit is indicating a fault. Switch unit off, wait for a short ti-
me and switch on again. If the red LED continues to illuminate,
please contact Truma Service.
