Installation of the fire
1. Prior to positioning the Trendz Outdoor Fire in its final sitting place,
ensure the concrete footing has cured and been constructed to
the dimensions and strength rating recommended.
2. Position the Trendz Fire in its final sitting place.
3. Fill the inside of the pre-cast Trendz Fire with concrete up to the
bottom level of the opening. Please ensure the concrete is filled
level.
DO NOT USE premixed bagged concrete.
A standard 6:1 mix is
all that is required. If fitting a hearth, make sure this is done before
concrete infill is poured.
4. When the infill of concrete has cured (1-2 days), assemble the
steel fire box inside the opening. This cannot be assembled then
inserted (see below for fire box assembly).
We recommend lighting a small slow burning fire to season the
concrete before loading up the fireplace with a decent burning fire.
We strongly recommend that the fire is plastered.
Plaster with
a modified plaster (e.g Rockcote) or clad with stone/brick/chist or
similar. If the fire is left unfinished, you may see hair line cracks in
the concrete. This is normal with concrete, and expected.
Assembly of the firebox
The firebox must be assembled inside the cavity.
1. Slide the two sides (A) into the fireplace cavity ensuring the side
rails are facing inwards.
2. Slide the back panel (B) into the fireplace cavity.
3. Bolt the back panel to the sides using the M10 bolts provided. Only
finger tighten, until the box is fully assembled.
4. Bolt top baffle (C) to the top of the side panels. To make the install
of this easier, rest the baffle on the side plate runners while the first
two bolts are inserted. After the next two bolts are in make sure the
baffle is fully open before tightening the bolts.
5. Fix the double skin to the back plate using the nuts provided.
6. Slide bottom steel fire plate (D) in to sit on the lower side rails.
7. Insert the frame surround (E) and fix to concrete with the dyna
screws provided. Fix this in place after plastering and painting has
been finished.
8. Pull the fire box forward so it meets the surround.
