Resonance at fans
The operation of fans at the resonant frequency (and multiples of it) must be avoided, in order to
prevent high vibration loads. The resonant frequency must be determined at the AHU on site.

The following generally applies:

Avoid dropping below minimum speed

Pass through the point of resonance quickly on start-up
In partial load, operation it could be that the operating point may coincide with the resonant range.
In such situations, this operation must be prevented on site by small adjustments to the control.
If a
frequency converter is used for running the fan, then the resonant range can be suppressed directly
there.
At AHUs with TRANE control, the resonant range can be suppressed. For that purpose, the appro-
priate setting in the software must be done at the commissioning process.
Permanent operation of fans at inadmissible high vibrations can lead to severe
damage at the AHU and subsequently to damages to property or personnel.
