PROFESSIONAL TOUR GUIDE SYSTEM
Overview
The
transmitter
is the light grey unit and is used by
the presenter. The transmitter has two inputs and an
integrated microphone. The presenter can either
speak directly into the integrated microphone (on the
top of the transmitter), insert the supplied lapel
microphone into the
Mic in
socket or insert the
supplied Aux lead into the
Aux in
socket.
Integrated microphone
When speaking into the integrated microphone the
transmitter must be held with the top in close
proximity to the speaker’s mouth. This microphone is
only suitable for quiet environments.
Please note. If a microphone is connected to the Mic
in socket then the integrated microphone is disabled.
Mic in
The supplied lapel microphone is plugged into the
socket and then clipped to the clothing approx.
150mm below the chin.
A selection of microphones are available as options.
Aux in
The supplied Aux in lead is connected between this
socket and a device with a 3.5mm headphone
socket. e.g.mp3/CD player, laptop, etc. The volume
level is controlled by the device.
The microphone can be muted at any time by
pressing the latching
Mute button
. The Signal
indicator will flash when the microphone is muted.
The receivers
are black and are used by the
listeners. The listener inserts the supplied earphone
plug into the
Headphone socket
. The earphone can
be used on either ear. A selection of accessories are
available including headphones and inductive
neckloop (to assist hearing aid wearers).
A
volume wheel
is located on the side of the
receiver.
Setup
Firstly, switch a receiver on by pressing the
power
button
until ON is displayed on the screen.
Press the
Up/Down buttons
to select a free
channel. A free channel can be identified by the
signal indicator not illuminating. If the signal indicator
illuminates then the receiver is picking up either
another transmitter or interference on the selected
channel.
Please note. If no button is pressed for 5 seconds
the buttons will be locked automatically and the lock
icon will appear on the screen. To unlock the unit
press and hold the up/down buttons until the lock
icon disappears.
If multiple tours or multiple languages are to be
transmitted within the same environment, then each
transmitter must be set to a different channel. Up to
12 of the 40 channels can be used simultaneously
(depending on local conditions).
The channels can be identified on the table(overleaf).
Two channel groups are programmed into each unit.
Group 1
G1
has all 40 channels selectable and
Group 2
G2
only has the 12 channels that can be
used simultaneously.
Factory default is set to Group 1. To change group,
switch the unit OFF by pressing the power button
until OF is displayed on the screen.
Press the power and down button until the screen
displays G1 with the 1 flashing. Change the group by
pressing the down button. Once the group is selected
wait 6 seconds and the unit will switch to the new
group. To change channels in the new group follow
the previous instructions.
Once all the receivers have been programmed to the
correct channel, the transmitter can be switched on
by pressing the power button. ON will be displayed
on the screen and the Signal indicator will illuminate
Blue. The transmitter channel must now be
programmed to the receivers channel by following
the previous instructions.
The Signal indicators will illuminate Blue on each
receiver once they receive a signal from the
transmitter.
If the receiver Signal indicator fails to illuminate make
sure the unit is within range of the transmitter.
If Signal indicators on the transmitter/receivers
illuminate Red then the battery needs replacing/
recharging.
If a receiver receives no signal from a transmitter for
20 minutes the unit will automatically switch off to
preserve battery life.
A Hi-Lo switch is located within the battery
compartment. This can be used for-
Transmitter
Hi-Increase range but reduce battery life. Lo-Reduce
range and increase battery life.
Receiver (Squelch)
Hi-Reduce range to receive transmitter. Lo-Increase
range to receive transmitter.
Please Note. Hi is up
and Lo is down.

anywhere within Europe.
What is a tour guide system?
A tour guide system is a wireless audio system used
to transmit a message from a presenter to listeners.
The presenter simply speaks into a microphone
transmitter and the listeners use receivers with
earphones to hear the message.
Tour guide systems are ideal for guided tours,
simultaneous interpretation, wireless command,
hearing support, audio description and many more
applications.
This tour guide system can be used indoors and
outdoors (with a maximum range of 100m). Up to 12
transmitters (each set to a different channel) can be
used simultaneously. There is no limit to the amount
of receivers used.
Getting started
Both the TT 40-T transmitter and TT 40-R receiver
operate on a single AA battery. To insert or replace
the battery, remove the rear cover by sliding it down.
When inserting a battery always make sure the
polarity is correct. If the unit is not in use for long
periods of time, then remove the battery to avoid
leakage.
Alkaline or NiMh rechargeable batteries can be used.
Optional chargers are available for the system.
Under no circumstances should non-
rechargeable batteries be used with a charger!
