Setting passwords
Setting passwords
Setting a password lets you walk away from your computer while
providing additional protection for your files. When you set a
password, you must enter the password before you can work on
your computer again.
TOSHIBA supports several types of passwords on your computer:
❖
An instant password—Secures your open programs and files
when leaving the computer temporarily.
You need to have created a password for your Windows
®
account to
use an instant password.
❖
A power-on password—Prevents unauthorized users from
starting the computer.
Using an instant password
To use an instant password, select the TOSHIBA Cards icon at the
bottom of the Toshiba Space screen or double tap the home (
)
button. Select
Lock
from the TOSHIBA Cards at the top of the
screen and then select the
Lock
icon to lock the system.
Using a user password
A user password provides power-on password protection.
Setting a user password
To register a password for the power-on password functions:

TOSHIBA

Utilities
, and then
HWSetup
.

Select the
Password
tab.

Select
Registered
.

Enter your password, and then enter it again to verify.

Select
OK
.

Select
OK
to exit.
Deleting a user password
To cancel the power-on password function:

Utilities
, and then
HWSetup
.

Select the
Password
tab.

Select
Not Registered
.

Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the user password.
NOTE
