Adding SCSI I/O devices

RAID configuration

When using a RAID configuration in the Toshiba Magnia 510D server, follow the
procedures shown in

SCSI configuration

on page 48.

Installing the RAID card

To install a RAID card, see

Installing expansion cards

on page 63.

Setting up the RAID card

Refer to the user’s guide that came with the RAID card.

Adding SCSI I/O devices

Installing SCSI devices on IDE HDD models requires SCSI host adapters. To install the
SCSI host adapter, refer to

Hot-Swap Drive Carrier

on page 56.

SCSI ID

The ID of the installed SCSI device must be different from the IDs of other devices. Refer
to the device manuals for more information.

Termination

The termination setting is required for the end of the SCSI bus.

You must set the termination on the last device of the SCSI chain or connect the
terminator to the end of the SCSI cable.

Installing SCSI devices

You can install up to three 5.25-inch internal SCSI devices in the 5.25-inch device bays.

Remove the bezel and side panel. For instructions, see

Removing and installing the

bezel and side panel

on page 31.

NOTE: Installing SCSI devices requires specific technical knowledge and
experience. If you have no experience installing SCSI devices, or if the job seems
difficult, consult your authorized service provider.
