Installation

This chapter provides programming and hardware installation instructions for the Strata CIX IP
Attendant Console. Please refer to the release notes for possible special instructions before
proceeding.
The Strata CIX IP Attendant Console is sold as a turnkey package that includes a PC with
Microsoft® Windows® 2000 operating system. The PC Attendant Console connects to the Strata
CIX processor via the LAN as a Customer Supported Telephony Application (CSTA). Microsoft
Windows and the Strata CIX IP Attendant Console application software is pre-installed at the
factory prior to shipment.
The package also consists of the following items:
•
CD-ROM with CIX IP Attendant Console Installation and Programming Manuals plus the IP
Attendant Console software.
•
Keyboard
•
Special Attendant Keyboard stickers (CTX-KL-ATCON-VA). See the Strata IP Attendant
Console User Guide or Quick Reference Guide or for sticker placement.
•
Mouse
Note
The customer must supply an LIPU IP station port for the speech path and a color VGA
monitor (1024 x 768 resolution, 65K colors) or better (CTX-LCD-MONITOR).
The Strata CIX system supports up to two Attendant Consoles. Multiple consoles automatically
share the incoming call load on a call-by-call rotation basis. Features such as Overflow, Position
Busy, and Interposition Call Transfer add to the efficiency of single or multiple console
applications.
Note
If you intend on attaching a second Attendant Console to the system, it must meet the
following requirements:
•
Windows 2000 or Windows XP
•
Celeron™ running at 2GHz or higher
•
512MB RAM
•
500MB hard disk space
•
NIC interface for 100 Base T
•
Sound Card
The Strata IP Attendant Console has two main components: the application and the database
utility Typically, these two components are installed on the same PC (the main Attendant Console).
Additional consoles on a system share this database utility.
