Expansion Options

Using the LAN Port Replicator

Card slot, and a SelectBay in which you can fit a
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive or a second hard disk drive.

If you want a smaller expansion unit which will enable you to
connect the computer to a printer, an external monitor, mouse and
full-size keyboard when you visit another location, use the
optional I/O Adapter.

You can connect an external PS/2 keyboard or a PS/2 mouse
through the PS/2 port on the LAN Port Replicator, the optional
Multimedia Port Replicator or the optional I/O Adapter. If you use
an optional Y-cable, you can connect both a mouse and a keyboard
to the port.

You can connect a serial mouse or other serial device through the
serial port on the LAN Port Replicator, or on the optional
Multimedia Port Replicator or I/O Adapter.

You can connect a local parallel printer through the parallel port on
the LAN Port Replicator, or on the optional Multimedia Port
Replicator or I/O Adapter.

You can connect an external monitor through the monitor port
(RGB port) on the computer, on the LAN Port Replicator, or on
the optional Multimedia Port Replicator or I/O Adapter.

NOTE: The LAN Port Replicator that came with your system,
the optional I/O Adapter, and the optional Multimedia Port
Replicator plug into the same expansion port. You cannot
use more than one of these devices at the same time.

Using the LAN Port Replicator

The LAN Port Replicator enables you to connect the computer to
a network. It also provides the basic ports found on the back of
most desktop computers, enabling you to connect a PS/2-
compatible mouse and full-size keyboard, a printer, an external
monitor and USB peripherals to your notebook.
