8. ULNAR PREPARATION (triceps splitting approach)

Broach until the apex of the fin is in contact with the bone
(fig. 47a).
Note
Do not broach beyond this point.
Burr slightly the olecranon to facilitate seating of the trial
and implant (fig. 47b).
Should a standard ulnar stem be desired, ream the canal
for the final implant with the ulnar reamer (fig. 47c)
or a flexible boring.
3 Ulnar canal reaming for standard stem
Assemble the reamer to the handle.
Gently ream the canal making sure not to penetrate the lateral
or dorsal cortex (fig. 47c). Flexible reamers (not included),
can be used if preferred.
