11.1.7 Noise or Problems Moving Through the Cut

Problem
The machine is loud while cutting, or it doesn't move freely while cutting.

The feed rate may be too high, or you may be using the wrong blade.

Clean the
bandsaw.

Examine the bandsaw for chip build-up between the
blade and it's wheels. If necessary, clean it of chips.

Adjust the feed

Verify that the feed rate isn't too high: lower the feed
rate, and then do a test cut. Examine the behavior of
the machine as it cuts.

Verify that the blade's TPI isn't too high, or that the
material isn't too course: you must use the correct
blade for the material. If you're not, you may need to
choose a new blade.

clamping
pressure.

pressure regulator isn't set too low: increase the
pressure, and then do a test cut. Examine the behavior
of the machine as it cuts.
