With limited space and large pipes,
it is not always possible to use the
upstream sections shown in Fig. 4-
1. In such cases the specially
developed perforated plate flow
conditioner (see 6.6) can be fitted
as shown on the right (see Fig. 4-
2). The flow conditioner is held
between two piping flanges and
centered with the flange bolts. It
reduces the length of the upstream
section downstream from flow
disturbances to 8D while
maintaining full measurement
accuracy. The total length of
straight piping downstream
becomes 10D to 13D. Note that a
flow conditioner cannot be used in
conjunction with the Steam
Dryness Fraction Calculator option.
