INSTALLATION

ELECTRICAL

CONNECTION

All electrical work is to be completed by a qualified
electrician.

1.  Ensure correct voltage, phase and frequency supply.
2.  Spare capacity of distribution board  shall be

determined before connecting heat pump.

3.  Circuit breakers,  isolators, cables etc. should be

selected to meet the continuous operation at “Max
Current” and handle “Starting Current” for approx 20
milliseconds (as per this manual, data sheet and heat
pump nameplate).

4.  Individual isolators are to be installed close to or on

each heat pump for maintenance purposes.

5.  Tank temp sensor to be appropriately placed (as per

Tivok Split System manual and installation drawings).
The temp sensor and controller cables are to be
connected to the respective labelled cables inside the
heat pump.

6.  Make sure the wiring, grounding and all terminal

connections are strong, reliable and appropriate
for the environmental conditions. All ground line
connections must be prepared in accordance with
relevant local regulations.

COMMISSIONING

Commissioning should only be carried out by a qualified
professional.

1.  Open all the appropriate valves and start filling the

tank with clean water.

2.  Bleed all air from heat pump by slowly releasing

water into the bottom heat pump inlet (return line)
while keeping the top outlet (supply line) open to the
atmosphere until only water is released. Slowly filling
the tank from empty with both heat pump isolation
valves open will achieve this. If the tank is already full
then the supply line shouldn’t be connected to the
tank until all air is bled from the heat pump.

3.  Fill the tank until the refill float valve shuts at the

upper water limit automatically. The water level inside
the tank must be at least higher than the heat pump
outlet line to the tank before starting the heat pump.
Do not manually fill the tank past the normal refill
float water level otherwise the float valve may flood
and continuously leak, refer to Tivok tank installation
guide for more details.

4.  After the electricity is turned on, turn on the heat

pump by pressing the on/off key on the controller.

5.  Check if the fan and the circulation pump are running

in the right direction. If not, shut down the power
supply and adjust the phase-order. Make sure the
compressor current is in a normal range and without
abnormal sound.

6.  If the heat pump cycles on / off quickly then there

could be still air in the heat pump heat exchanger
thus bleed the remainder of the air and repeat.

7.  Run heat pump continuously and observe for any

system leakage before thermal insulation is installed

8.  Comprehensively inspect entire system for leakage,

flow, noise, vibration, heating rate etc. during full cycle
of tank heating and identify if system is meeting the
requirements.
