MAINTENANCE
Apart from the normal levels of cleanliness, the chamber should be regularly maintained to ensure
trouble free operation. A “periodic inspection and maintenance” programme can be arranged in
some Australian locations, or a service manual can be purchased from Thermoline if you wish to
do your own repairs.
Lubrication of moving parts is not necessary since all bearings are sealed, but there are one or two
essential maintenance chores that should be performed regularly:
CLEANING:
The internal and external surfaces of the cabinet can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Always
have in place a program of regular cleaning using a soft
damp
cloth with a mild solution of soap
and water and allow to dry.
CARING FOR STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is under most conditions extremely resistant to corrosion. This is in part due to the
addition of chromium and nickel to the steel and the formation of a durable chromium oxide at the
surface during the manufacturing process. There are several chemicals which will attack the
surface of stainless steel, plus the lack of oxygen at the surface will cause rusting, corrosion and
pitting.
Note:
Deionised water is particularly corrosive, to minimise, maintain a Neutral pH (7-9).
WATER TROUGH
:
The water trough inside the cabinet provides the humidity for the cabinet. Since water is constantly
evaporating from this trough, mineral deposits can be left behind (especially if town water is used.
Regular draining of the humidifier will help to keep these deposits to a minimum.
To drain the humidity trough:
•
Turn the power off.
•
Turn the water supply off.
•
Open the drain valve and allow the trough to drain. (See photograph on page 3 for location
of drain valve).
•
Remove the stainless deflector panel by simply lifting it to gain access to the trough. Use a
soft damp cloth to clean the trough.
•
Close the drain valve and turn the water back on again. The trough will automatically fill
with water again.
•
After flushing the trough it will take a while for the water to heat back up again and for the
temperature and humidity to stabilise.
You should perform this procedure every 3 months if town water is used, less often if distilled water
is used.
