To increase flux coming out of the germanium optic, we can use a multilayer mirror to
increase primary flux on Germanium crystal itself. Here we use the fact that mirrors can refocus
X-Rays that would otherwise be lost thanks to their parabolic shape . In this setting we use
multilayer parallel mirror to refocus parallel X-Rays beam on the Germanium crystal. Thanks to
this we increase the flux coming out
of
the Germanium crystal by a factor close to 5 compared
to a system equipped with a Germanium monochromator alone. One drawback of this optic is
its adjustment complexity, since it is difficult to monitor the beam coming out of the mirror
housing before it reaches Germanium crystal.
SERVICE!
In service mode, appropriate tools are used by the qualified pe rsonnel. Sensor (6)
allows to detect the service tooling.
Only the field service engineer is allowed to adjust the mirror (3a) and
monochromator (3b) and perform the beam centering procedure, dismount the CPS
detector and the X-Ray source and its components: slits (4), mirror (3a),
monochromator housing (3b), shutter (2) and the tubeshield.
