Optional Controller Operation 

As an option, the NQ Series is available with a 
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and touch-
screen operator interface display. The following 
describes the operation of this option. 
 

Start-Up Screen & Thermal Care Contact 
Information 

This is the first screen displayed after the chiller’s 
control circuit is on. To access this screen from the 
Active Alarms/Alarm History screen press the “TC 
Contact Info” button. 
 

 

 

Touching anywhere on this screen navigates to the 
Main Screen. 
 

Main Screen 

This is the main navigation screen used for primary 
chiller control. 
 

 

Local/ Remote Button (Press to Toggle) 

If “Local” shows on the button, the chiller starts and 
stops from this screen using the Start and Stop 
Buttons. If “Remote” shows on the button, the chiller 
starts and stops by remote contacts. To toggle 
between local and remote modes touch this button 
until the desired mode shows. 
 

Start Button 

Pressing this button will start the chiller if “Local 
Control” is ON. If “Start” shows, the chiller is OFF. If 
“Running” shows, the chiller is ON. 
 

Stop Button 

Pressing this button will stop the chiller if “Local 
Control” is ON. If “Stopped” shows, the chiller is OFF. 
If “Stop” shows, the chiller is ON. 
 

Set Point Temperature Display & Entry 

To change the set point temperature, press the set 
point display. This will bring up a numeric keypad 
screen. Use the keypad to enter your desired 
temperature and press “ENT” to confirm or “ESC” to 
cancel. 
 

Actual Supply Water Temperature Display 

The measured supply temperature of the coolant 
going to the process is shown. 
 

Alarms Button 

Touching this button navigates to the Active Alarms 
Screen. If there is an active alarm there will be a 
flashing alarm box shown on the Main screen. 
 

Setup Button 

Touching this button navigates to the Compressor 
Setup screen. The Compressor Setup screen is 
password protected so navigating to this screen 
shows a prompt for a password. The Password is 
“9999”. 
 

Process Diagnostic Button 

Touching this button navigates to the Process 
Diagnostic screen. 
 

Refrigereration Diagnostic Button 

Touching this button navigates to the Refrigeration 
Diagnostic screen.
