Z-Max Surveying System Operation and Applications Manual
The functionality of the display is organized in a menu tree. The menu tree is
navigated by the 4 control keys located on the front panel below the display: the
yellow Up arrow (
G
) and Down arrow (
H
) keys, the green Enter key (
), and the red
Cancel (
K
) key. The control keys allow you to move up and down the menu tree,
select parameters, and enter alpha and numeric characters like a keypad. The screen
displays up to eight characters at one time. Messages or parameters longer than
eight characters are scrolled from right to left. For more information about the display,
see the Front Panel User Interface section in Chapter 4 -
Operations
on page
.
Power ON/OFF Key
Power the Unit 'ON'
Power up the unit by pressing and holding the power key on the front panel for
two seconds, and then release the key. During the two-second period that the key
is being held, the satellite/power LED will blink red. After these two seconds, the
front panel will display the firmware version and then SYSINFO. If the power
button is pressed for more than 4 seconds, the unit will initialize (see below).
Once the power key is released, the Satellite/Power LED will begin to blink red
every second, indicating that the unit is turned 'ON'.
Turn the Unit 'OFF'
Power down the unit by pressing and holding down the power key for two
seconds. The receiver will generate a beep every second, a “shutdown” message
will be displayed, and the receiver will then power down.
If the user releases the power key before the complete two seconds has elapsed,
the unit will remain powered on and there will be no disruption of receiver
functionality during the time that the key was pressed down.
Reset the Unit
A reset of the receiver will initialize the receiver, restoring all receiver parameters
to factory defaults, clear all ephemeris and almanac information from the internal
memory, and reformat the SD memory card. See Appendix B for a list of the
default values for many user parameters.
The unit must be powered OFF to initialize the receiver. First, the unit must
powered off, then press and hold the power key for five seconds. After the five
seconds, the phrase "re-init" will be displayed on the front panel display until the
initialization process is complete. After the unit completes the re-initialization
procedure, the receiver will stay powered on and be in normal operation mode.
If the user releases the power key at any time prior to starting the initialization, the
receiver will simply power up normally with no reset.
