Thales Navigation Z-Max

The Thales Navigation solution for RTK surveying is the Z-Max System. The Z-Max
includes all required components to perform real-time GPS surveys. Powered by
advanced GPS and communications technology, the Z-Max is a precision
measurement tool that provides superior RTK availability, reliability and accuracy.
Thales Navigation has taken a great technology platform and crafted a modular
design that maximizes the return on investment for positioning professionals in a
competitive business environment. The receiver is a 12-channel, dual-frequency
receiver with the patented Z-Tracking technology and uses about 4 watts of power.
The Z-Max RTK rover is virtually cable free, with each sealed module designed to
easily and simply plug into the GPS Receiver Module. The Z-Max also uses Bluetooth
short range wireless protocol to allow the handheld computer to wirelessly
communicate with the receiver and wirelessly transfer data to and from the receiver
and a PC. With the Z-Max System, RTK surveying is more cost-effective than it's ever
been.

Thales Navigation has also developed a software suite that encompasses all phases
of GPS surveying and provides connectivity with existing survey systems. Thales
Navigation's focus on software has generated additional improvements in the
application of the technology to real work including several key improvements in the
receiver's software. The Z-Max RTK System is a compelling GPS surveying solution
in today's value conscious business environment.

About The Guide to RTK Surveying

This guide is designed to help you rapidly start RTK surveying with your Z-Max. The
manual assumes that you have surveying or precision measurement experience. The
manual includes an overview of the RTK technology, the Z-Max modules and how to
connect them, an introduction to RTK surveying modes available, a description of how
to set up and execute an RTK survey. If after setting up your system you are still
having trouble, this manual also provides a chapter on troubleshooting to help you
determine and resolve the problem. Please refer to the Operations and Reference
section of this manual for specific questions about the hardware components, the
LEDs and the front panel display.
