1 Overview
The AFE539A4EVM is an easy-to-use platform to evaluate the functionality and performance of the AFE539A4
commercial device.
The AFE539A4 is a 10-bit, quad-channel, smart analog front end (AFE). Each analog channel can be configured
as a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), analog-to-digital-converter (ADC), or comparator. The four DAC outputs
are capable of both voltage and current output. The AFE539A4 supports high-impedance (Hi-Z) power-down
mode, and a Hi-Z output during a power-off condition. The DAC outputs provide a force-sense option for
use as a programmable comparator and current sink. This device has an integrated state machine that is
preprogrammed as a proportional-integral (PI) controller. The AFE539A4 is an excellent choice for thermoelectric
cooling (TEC) control, temperature control, and dynamic headroom control applications. The multifunction GPIO,
function generation, and nonvolatile memory (NVM) enable this smart AFE to be used without a processor. The
