(1) Tracking the Machine
n
DANGER
Nip Point Hazard
Hazardous nip points exist.
Under no circumstances must the machine be running when preforming the following tasks. Failure
in doing so may result in serious injuries. Switch off the machine and implement the lockout and
tagout procedure.
NOTICE
Before tracking the machine on site ensure that all material has been processed through it and
that no material is left on any belts. Ensure no material has built up around or on the tracks.
Stop the machine for 30 minutes after tracking it continuously for 30 minutes, to allow the
components to cool down. Never track the machine constantly for more than 30 minutes without
providing adequate rest.
When travelling up a gradient, the tracks should be driven forward (i.e. idlers first, drive sprocket
to the rear). When travelling down a gradient, tracks should be driven sprocket first. Do not
manoeuvre the machine on a gradient steeper than 30 degrees.

Avoid manoeuvring the machine over extremely uneven ground. Ensure the terrain that the
machine is working on is firm enough to adequately support the machine.
Always park the machine on flat, level ground. If it is necessary to park the machine on a gradient,
the tracks should be solidly blocked.
Never attempt to track the machine if there is any build up of material around the tracks and drive
sprockets or if the tracks are frozen to the ground.
Ensure the machine is tracked at least 10 m in either direction on a daily basis, to minimise risk
of track chain seizure.
Ensure no leakage of oil from gearbox, roller and idler before and during tracking.
