TO REPLACE THE POTENTIOMETER SWITCH

FOR SAFETY: Before Leaving Or Servicing
Machine; Stop On Level Surface, Turn Off
Machine.

FOR SAFETY: Disconnect the battery
connections before working on the machine.

1. Follow steps 1–5 in Section A

(HANDLEBAR REPLACEMENT).  In this
procedure it is not necessary to remove the
left handle grip from the handlebar.

2. Remove the three fasteners that mount the

switch bracket to the console, using a
phillips head screwdriver, 5/16 inch socket,
and a 1/4 inch drive ratchet.  Remove switch
bracket with switch from console.

3. Using a 7/32 inch open-end wrench and a

7/32 inch socket, remove the switch from
the bracket.

4. Install replacement switch onto the bracket.  

Only slightly snug down the switches
mounting hardware, so that further
adjustment of the switch can be achieved
later.

5. Reinstall the switch bracket and switch back

into the console

6. Reinstall the handlebar, gear and hub

assembly, collar, etc., into the console.
Install right handle grip using compressed air
or soap to assist sliding the grip onto the
bar.

7. Adjust switch so that the roller on the switch

almost touches the neutral zone on the hub
and gear assembly.  Tighten down the
switches mounting hardware.  DO NOT over
tighten the mounting hardware or damage to
the switch may occur.

8. Test the switch operation for proper ON/OFF

activation.  The two wires to the switch
should be connected to the switches two
outside terminals. See schematic in this
section.
