Chapter 4: EPIX/PIXCI Installation
XCAP-Lite is supplied with each PIXCI imaging board and allows access to PIXCI
imaging board(s). XCAP-Lite is a free version of the XCAP software and does not require
an authorization key. Selected image processing and analysis functions are disabled,
but you can use this software to confirm system operation, acquire images, and
perform limited image analysis while the PIXCI imaging board is present and open for
use. XCAP-Lite also exports customized video formats and camera serial commands to
assist programming PIXCI imaging boards via the XCLIB C library. For imaging boards
capturing directly into host computer memory, XCAP-Lite is limited to 64 MB of frame
buffer memory; there is no limitation on frame buffer memory when used with the
PIXCI CL3SD. For greater functionality, purchase XCAP-Plus or XCAP Std from EPIX.

4.1 XCAP-Lite Software Installation
1. If the host computer is configured to allow automatic execution of a loaded CD, the
interactive index program will start automatically.
Otherwise, execute the index program from a command prompt, or via the
Windows Start

Run option, by issuing the following command:
Z:SETUP
Replace Z with the appropriate drive letter for the CD Rom Drive.
2. Select Setup PIXCI(R) Image Software.
3. Select XCAP Imaging Application.
4. Click OK.
5. Follow the installation program's on-screen prompts (e.g., specify the installation
directory.)
The default directory is
C:\XCAP
.
6. At the end of the installation select No when prompted to run the software to finish
the installation.
7. Close all open Windows.
8. Shut down the host computer.

Section 4.3, PIXCI Board Installation , on page 21.
