This chapter contains procedures for functional veri
fi
cation, certi
fi
cation, and
performance veri
fi
cation procedures for the TLA5000 and TLA5000B series logic
analyzer mainframes. Generally, you should perform these procedures once per
year or following repairs that affect certi
fi
cation.
Summary Veri
fi
cation
Functional veri
fi
cation procedures verify the basic functionality of the instrument
inputs, outputs, and basic instrument actions. These procedures include power-on
diagnostics, extended diagnostics, and manual check procedures. These
procedures can be used for incoming inspection purposes.
Performance veri
fi
cation procedures con
fi
rm that a product meets or exceeds the
performance requirements for the published speci
fi
cations documented in the
Speci
fi
cations
chapter of this manual. The performance veri
fi
cation procedures
certify the accuracy of an instrument and provide a traceability path to national
standards.
As you complete the performance veri
fi
cation procedures, you can
fi
ll out a
calibration data report to keep on
fi
le with your instrument. A blank copy of the
calibration data report is provided with this manual. The calibration data report is
intended to be copied and used to record the results of the calibration/certi
fi
cation
procedures.
Certi
fi
cation
The system clock of the controller is checked for accuracy, and the input probe
channels are checked for threshold accuracy and setup and hold accuracy. The
instrument is certi
fi
able if these parameters meet speci
fi
cations. Complete the
performance veri
fi
cation procedures and record the certi
fi
able parameters in a
copy of the Calibration Data Report at the end of this chapter.
