Seek

Circuit resets Counter Circuit to five second/division condi

tions. Counter

Circuit

in turn produces output levels to select

five second/division sweep

rate in the Delay and Timing Circuit.

Sweep

Generator

is reset to start sweep at the

left side of the

graticule.

Sweep

Trigger

circuit operates

as set by the front-panel controls.

If unit

is not correctly triggered with these settings, the Seek

Circuit

switches unit to auto triggering. Then,

if the unit is

triggered it operates

described

in the next step.

If not trig

gered,

the NOT TRIG'D readout comes on. and the sweep free

runs

(normally

at 2 s/DIV sweep rate).

Seek Circuit

combines sawtooth

signal

and sweep gate signal to

produce

a window-gate signal. The duration of

this window

gate

signal is typically about 20% to 60% of the total sweep

duration

(10 times sweep rate). Trigger signals from the Sweep

Trigger circuit

are compared to the window gate. If a trigger

pulse

occurs during the window gate, an advance pulse is pro

duced

which

advances the Counter Circuit (and the Delay and

Timing

Circuit)

to the next faster sweep rate and a sweep reset

pulse

resets

the Sweep Generator so it starts over at the left

side

of the graticule at the new sweep rate.

5. Step

4 is

repeated until the Counter Circuit (and

the sweep rate)

have been

advanced until a trigger pulse does not occur during

the

window-gate.

If the .1 /is/DIV sweep rate is reached before

this

occurs,

the Counter Circuit stops and remains at this condi

tion until reset

(by next seek command).

The

Sweep

Generator starts

to run up at the

sweep rate selected

the Counter Circuit.

If the Delayed Sweep Magnifier Control

circuit is set

for X10

or X100 magnification, current is added

the Sweep Generator at a

point determined by the DELAY

control

in the Delay and Timing Circuit to magnify a portion of

the

trace. The final sawtooth at

the

output of the Sweep Gen

erator

circuit is

amplified

by the Horizontal Amplifier circuit to

produce the

horizontal deflection.

7. The

Readout Logic circuit decodes the sweep-rate logic from the

Counter

Card

and the magnifier logic from the Delayed Sweep

Magnifier Control

circuit.

The output of the Readout Logic circuit

is connected

to the

Readout

Board to

indicate the sweep rate. If

the

sweep

is magnified, the Readout Board indicates the sweep

rate

of the magnified portion.
