1 About This Manual
This Operating Manual describes the MagicPrep
™ NGS instrument and provides all the information
required for operating it safely and for maintaining it in good working order. This manual must be read
carefully before performing any work on the MagicPrep NGS and before using it.
This chapter outlines the purpose of this manual and specifies the product referred to. Furthermore, it
explains the use of symbols and conventions as well as further general information.

Intended Use
The MagicPrep NGS System is a stand-alone instrument and associated reagent kits that allow the
unattended and fully automated preparation of next generation sequencing (NGS) libraries from
nucleic acid samples (
i.e.,
RNA or DNA previously extracted and purified from biological samples)
using selected proprietary Tecan Genomics, Inc., chemistries.

For Research Use Only, Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
1.4
Areas of Use / Area of Application
The MagicPrep NGS system can only be used for the fully automated preparation of next generation
sequencing (NGS) libraries using the specific Tecan Genomics MagicPrep reagent kits.
In each environment the individual laboratory is responsible for the validation of the MagicPrerp NGS
instrument together with the specific MagicPrep NGS Reagent Kits for the laboratory’s application
workflow or method(s).
1.5
Improper Use
Improper use may prejudice the MagicPrep NGS instrument safety concept.
The MagicPrep NGS instrument must not be used with reagents or components that are not
approved by Tecan.
The MagicPrep NGS instrument is not explosion-proof and should not be installed in locations
where there is a risk of explosion.
