2.3. Electrical Description
The AMP 3K and AMP 5K terminators electrical components consist of a motor, electrical panel, control panel,
work light, switches and cables.
The DCC unit electrical components consist of the operator interface panel (Figure 9), the DCC terminator
control box, the electrically controlled pneumatic valves, and various switches, sensors, and cables. The
terminator receives the signal to cycle from the DCC terminator control box. The DCC terminator control box
receives terminator status and error messages from the terminator.
The AMP 3K and AMP 5K DCC terminators operate on 100-240 Vac, 50/60Hz, single phase current, with
ground (see Figure 4). Power for the DCC terminator control box comes from the terminator's electrical panel
(see Figure 3). When the electrical panel on/off switch on the back of the terminator is switched on, both the
terminator and the DCC terminator control box turn on.
The crimp quality monitors, 1320420-2 and 1976085-1, also operate on 100-240 Vac, 50/60Hz, single phase
current, with ground. The monitor has a separate power cord and on/off switch.
An interface cable connects the crimp quality monitor to the DCC terminator control box. The monitor provides a
"footswitch inhibit" signal and a "good crimp" signal. The "footswitch inhibit" signal prevents the operator from
cycling the DCC terminator when the monitor is not ready to collect and analyze crimp data. The "good crimp"
signal tells the DCC terminator when to cut off a defective crimp.
