Remove any tape securing the guard door.
Open the main guard. Open the right side hinged door by first pressing the hinged door release then opening
to the right.
Rotate the carrier scrap cut assembly down towards the bench by loosening the T-handle, sliding the latch bar
toward the front of the machine, and then rotating the assembly.
Install the tonk rod and scrap bin.
Move the gripper mechanism completely to the left.
Manually cycle the terminator to verify tonk operation. Refer to the AMP 3K and AMP 5K customer manual
409-10047 for instructions on manually cycling the terminator. The tonk foot (the flat block bolted to the tonk
rod) should hit the right side of the lower grip jaw. See Figure 12. After the tonk foot contacts the lower grip
jaw, it should move the lower jaw down along with the upper jaw and the grip cylinder.
CAUTION
!
If the tonk foot screw head hits the lower grip jaw or the tonk foot hits the upper grip jaw or guide pin, there is a problem.
Do not continue to cycle or damage may occur.
Manually cycle the terminator in the opposite direction to lift the tonk foot. Fix the problem and repeat the
manual cycle of the terminator.
After installation of the tonk is completed, rotate the carrier strip cut assembly up to the operating position and
secure the latch bar with the T-handle.
DANGER
STOP
After completing the manual terminator cycle, be sure to remove the hex wrench and install the motor access cover.
Close the guards.
NOTE
i
The machine will automatically detect the supply voltage and adjust the controller accordingly.
Turn on power to the DCC terminator using the on/off switch located on the electrical panel at the back of the
terminator and put the DCC control box in the INPUT MONITORING Mode (refer to Paragraph 7.2) and check
for proper functioning of the machine input by manually cycling the DCC unit.
Turn "off" power to the DCC terminator using the on/off switch located on the electrical panel at the back of the
terminator.
Connect the shut off valve of the pneumatic assembly to a suitable air supply.
Turn "on" the main air valve.
Connect the crimp quality monitor power cord to a suitable electrical supply and turn it on.
Turn "on" the power to the DCC terminator using the On/Off switch located on the electrical panel at the back
of the terminator.
The main air valve will pulse several times during machine homing and then remain "on."
Look for any errors that may have occurred during homing and correct the errors.
Step through a DCC terminator cycle by using the Step Mode button.
The machine is now ready for production operation.
