The Best Location for the Infinity1100 CQ
When selecting fan mounting location, consider the following:
· Mounting the fan as far as possible from the interior air intake or exhaust points will
minimize fan operating noise from being transmitted back through the duct-work.
· The fan location should allow sufficient access for service.
· Allow sufficient room for the damper to swing open.
When selecting interior grille location, consider the following:
·The interior grille should be installed in a central location within your home. Above a central hallway or at
the top of a stairwell will provide the best airflow. If desired, the grille can be mounted vertically.
Installation
DO NOT CONNECT POWER SUPPLY UNTIL FAN IS COMPLETELY INSTALLED. MAKE SURE ELECTRICAL
SERVICE TO THE FAN IS LOCKED IN "OFF" POSITION.
What you will need:
Make sure that you have adequate exhaust area out of your attic. This can be accomplished with a
combination of roof, ridge or gable end vents.
The
Infinity 1100 CQ
requires a minimum of three (3)
square feet of attic exhaust area.
* Drill and Drill Bits *Phillips Head Screwdriver *Drywall Cutter *Caulking *Duct Tape
1)
Attach the mounting brackets to the fan with the nuts and bolts provided. The wiring box should be
positioned for easy access.
2)
Using the wood screws provided, attach the mounting brackets to a rafter or support beam at the
selected location. The housing must hang plumb to allow the damper to close completely.
3)
Install the interior grille.
a)
Move any insulation out of the way to expose the sheetrock surface.
b)
Using the transition duct as a template, mark the opening into the living area.
c)
Remove the sheetrock within the mark with a drywall cutter.
d)
Place a bead of caulking around the transition duct flange and place it into the opening. The
caulking will prevent air from travelling between the attic and the living space.
e)
From below, position the interior grille to cover the opening. Drill pilot holes through the grille,
through the sheetrock and into the transition duct.
f)
With the screws provided, attach the grille to the transition duct, sandwiching the sheetrock in
between.
4)
Connect the duct to the inlet collar of the round to square transition duct using clamps or duct tape. It
is recommended that the inner vinyl core of the insulated duct be clamped or taped to the collars and
that the vapor barrier surrounding the insulation be duct taped to the housing.
