3. In the
Pip method
box, select an option that specifies how the pip tones
are transmitted.
4. In the
Pip interval
box, specify the interval between pip tone
transmissions.
5. In the
Pip level
box, specify the level of the pip tones in dB. This is the
level relative to speech. More precisely, it is relative to the maximum
transmit deviation of the current channel.
6. If you selected the pip method Periodically with no Tx, optionally enable
and configure a lead-in time. The lead-in time is the time between the start
of transmission and the beginning of the pip tone. When there is a lead-in
time, the transmitter ramps up and begins transmitting subaudible signalling
before sending the pip tone. Subscriber radios with power save need time
to wake up and decode the subaudible signalling before receiving the alarm
notification.
7. Click
OK
to confirm your changes and close the form.
Notifying Over the Line
The Service Kit lets you configure the way the base station notifies alarms over
its balanced or unbalanced line interface. To start and stop the over-the-line
alarm, see
“Over the line alarm actions” on page 215
.
To configure the over-the-line alarm
1. Select Configure > Alarms > Notification Methods.
2. In the Over the line area,
Type
box, select an alarm type. Currently, only
Pip Tones are available. A pip tone is a 600Hz tone with a duration of
200ms.
Option
Description
Tail transmission
A single pip tone is transmitted at the end of every transmission.
Periodically with Tx
A pip tone is transmitted at the beginning of each transmission and regularly
during the transmission at the interval specified by the
Pip interval
box.
Periodically with no Tx
A pip tone is transmitted regularly when the base station is not otherwise
transmitting. Pip tones are transmitted at intervals specified by the
Pip interval
box. The transmission uses the transmit signalling defined by the channel table
(default profile) or the default encode signalling for line controlled base/mic
(custom profiles).
