Starting COMET
To ensure long life and ease of operation, you need to
follow a few general guidelines when starting up and
shutting down your COMET thin client notebook.
CAUTION:
Failure to start up and shut down the
COMET notebook properly can damage important system
files and may affect your product warranty.
Starting the COMET on an Ethernet network
If you will be using the COMET on an Ethernet network,
you will need an Ethernet cable, a connection to a func-
tioning Ethernet network, and an IP address (or use
DHCP which provides automatic IP address resolution).
Optional information detailed may be needed for
advanced settings (detailed in the Chapter 4 -
Configuring COMET).
Starting the COMET on a Wireless network
If you will be using the COMET on a Wireless network,
you will need to ensure that the Wireless card has been
activated/turned on. This is accomplished using the
Function-F2 keyboard combination.
When presented with the sign-on screen, enter your user-
name and password to log on to the server.
NOTE: Once logged in, you will see the desktop environ-
ment supported by the server you’re connected to.
