WD-PWxxx and the railway siding
Generally speaking, all WD-xxx decoders (incl. the WD-PWxxx) are supplied by the coupling bus
via TCCS. Thus it is not necessary that each wagon that shall be lit has its own railway siding.
Most production models do not have their own tracking shoes and upgrading them is mostly diffi-
cult and leads to bad riding qualities.
If a train, e.g. during a locomotive change, shall be continuously lit even after the locomotive has
been diconnected, at least one wagon decoder needs to have a railway siding. A specific feature of
the TCCS consists in the fact that after moving away the locomotive this situation change is auto-
matically recognised and one or several WD PWxxx decoders undertake the train supply, until a
new one or the same locomotive is coupled to one of the train ends! The new locomotive replaces
the wagon decoder immediately and takes over the train's supply. These procedures take place un-
noticeable by a spectator since it is flicker-free.
But also in regular traction operations, a wagon-decoder with railway sidings helps a locomotive
supply the complete train system. Each WD-PWxxx with trackautomatically feeds energy into the
train bus that can then be collected by the locomotive as well as by any other wagon. This feature
helps the locomotive, especially in long train sets and prevents a compulsive disconnection by su-
perheating during long, uninterrupted journeys.
Of course a locomotive with contact probelms of it own can also demand energy via train bus – thus
avoiding a break down.
We call this system
TCCS
– One for everybody – Everybody for one!
Connect the pickup shoe, located on the right, front side when facing in the direction of forward
travel (white coupling side faces the front) to the solder contact on the decoder’s bottom side. Look
in direction of the traffic forward (white coupling page points to the locomotive), then the solder
contacts of the rail connection are on the right page of the decoder (see also 14).
The connection between WD-PWxxx and track occurs according to following sketch about the

Especially during the following operation situations this component is essential:
