Displaying iPod content on the FD 100 graphic remote control handset
There are two possible methods of connecting an iPod to the K8. Please note
the following points when using the FD 100 to control the system:
'iPod' connection
Music and video playback
If an iPod is connected to the analogue ‘iPod’ socket, playback of music
and
video content is supported. In this case the iPod’s screen is used for navigation,
while the K8 or the iPod itself is used to control operations. With this mode of
connection the FD 100 can only control the iPod. The iPod passes no infor-
mation to the K8 through this connection, and therefore the FD 100 has no
information to display.
'USB-A2 (iPod) connection'
Music playback only
The second method of connecting the iPod is to use the streaming client’s USB-
A2 socket, which provides a convenient means of controlling the iPod with the
FD 100. In this mode of operation the iPod does pass the requisite information
to the K8, but the iPod does not support video playback via the K8; this con-
figuration therefore allows only pure audio playback. Instead of appearing as its
own source, the iPod is now listed amongst the streaming client’s available
media and devices. In this mode navigation and operation of the iPod are
carried out exclusively via the K8’s ‘Streaming Client’ source, and the iPod is
operated using the same method described for operating the streaming client
(see section ‘Operating the streaming client’).

 

If you wish to have content and information displayed on the FD 100’s
integral screen when navigating and playing back the iPod, the only
option is to connect the iPod to the USB socket, since the iPod only
delivers the information required for the display when this form of con-
nection is used.
