USB IN
(AUDIO USB)
USB sockets for playing AUDIO files stored on USB memory sticks and iPod
USB-A1 (HDD)
Socket for a USB memory stick or an external hard disc
Audio files from a storage medium connected to this socket are played back
using the Streaming Client (SCL). Select the Streaming Client as source to play
the files. The USB stick appears in the main menu of the Streaming Client,
where it can be selected for playback.
The memory stick must be formatted using the FAT16 or FAT32 file system.
It is not possible to play
video files
via the USB-A1 input.
Please use the USB socket on the front panel for reproducing video files, and
play the files via the USB playback function of the Blu-ray disc player.
The USB memory stick can be powered through the USB socket, provided that
the device’s current drain meets the USB norm (<500 mA). USB hard discs with
a higher current drain require their own mains PSU if they are to be connected
to this socket.
The power supply at this socket is switched off in stand-by mode. Memory
sticks and hard discs powered from this socket can therefore be left connected
even in stand-by mode.
USB-A2 (iPod)
iPod socket for audio playback
Audio content stored on an iPod connected to this socket can be played back
via the Streaming Client (SCL). For playback select the Streaming Client as
source. The iPod appears in the main menu of the Streaming Client, and can be
selected for playback.
Access to the audio files on the iPod is digital, which means that the files are
played back using the K8’s high-quality D/A converter.
To connect the iPod you can either use the USB lead supplied with your iPod,
or the
iPod Docking Station with USB socket (order no. 4362 99301),
which is available as an accessory.
An iPod connected to this socket is powered by the K8, which automatically
recharges its battery. If you wish the charge process to continue even when the
K8 is in stand-by mode, please select the “On (Comfort stand-by)” setting in the
menu
'System Configuration / Comfort Standby'
.
Video content stored on the iPod cannot be played via this socket. For video
playback please use the analogue iPod socket, and select the iPod as source
device.
