Using command-line utilities to perform a local or remote backup
If you do not have access to the SGMI, you can use command-line backup utilities to back up your
security gateway configuration. You can later use the SGMI to restore the backed up configurations
just as you restore configurations that are backed up using the SGMI.
There are two ways to perform a command line back:

From your local computer
■
From a remote computer
For both methods, you can specify a backup file name or let the backup utility generate the backup file
using a default file name. The default file name combines the security gateway host name and time
stamp in the following format:
<hostname>. yyyymmddhhmmss.bak
Where:

For example: mygateway.20050408110614.bak is the default name of a backup file on host mygateway,
performed on April 8, 2005 at 11:06:14.
You use command line utilities for both of the following procedures:

Performing a local command line backup
■
Performing a remote command line backup
