4.3 Parts removal and replacement
WARNING!
DANGER OF INJURY! Depending on the position of the crank mechanism in the cutting
module, the cutting knife may start moving when the printer is switched ON.
KEEP HANDS AWAY!
CAUTION!
The printer power supply should be switched off, and the low-voltage power cable should
be disconnected from the control board before you disconnect or connect any other cable
on the control board. The printer electronics might otherwise be damaged.
CAUTION!
The printhead and some components on the control board are sensitive to ESD
(electrostatic discharges). To prevent damaging such components, observe all the usual
precautions such as keeping the part in its original packing (“ESD-bag”) until you are
ready to install the part. Do not touch its pins. Use a grounded wrist strap when handling
ESD-sensitive components.
CAUTION!
If the printer or print module is not to be used for a week or so, disengage the printhead
from the platen by lowering the paper release lever. Otherwise, both the printhead and the
platen can be deformed.
4.3.1 Connector board
REMOVAL
1. Verify that the power to the printer is switched off.
2. Disconnect the ribbon cable from the printer.
3. Remove the plastic cover at the rear of the printer (4 nuts).
4. Disconnect all cables from the connector board. The foil-cable connector housing
need only be pulled out a couple of millimeters to disengage the cable.
5. Remove the connector board. Be careful not to loose the four fiber washers on the
mounting screws.
REPLACEMENT
1. Verify that there is a fiber washer on each one of the mounting screws.
2. Slide the connector board on to the screws.
3. Connect all cables to the board. Ensure that the foil cable is fully inserted before you
push the connector housing against the board.
4. Mount the plastic cover.
5. Connect the ribbon cable.
