2-4 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
MAINTENANCE AND TUNE-UP PROCEDURES
This section describes the servicing procedures for each item mentioned in the Periodic Maintenance chart.
CYLINDER HEAD AND CYLINDER
Remove carbon every 6 000 km (6 months).

CYLINDER HEAD NUTS AND EXHAUST PIPE
NUTS
Tighten initially at 1 000 km (1 month) and every 6 000
km (6 months) thereafter.
Cylinder head nuts, when they are not tightened to the specified
torque, may result in leakage of the compressed mixture and
reduce output. Tighten the cylinder head nuts as follows.
• Remove the lower leg shield. (

• Remove the frame covers. (

• Disconnect the spark plug cap.
• Remove the cylinder cover.
• Tighten the exhaust pipe nuts to the specified torque.

Exhaust pipe nut: 10 N.m (1.0 kgf.m)
• Tighten the cylinder head nuts to the specified torque.
