3.2   ISDN Call Setup Testing

Use this procedure to place a basic rate call from a U interface. 
This requires option SWxDSL-5BRIN and/or SWxDSL-5BRIE.
1.  From the IDSL main menu select ISDN-BRI > TEST CON-

FIGURATION and configure:
MODE: TE/NTI-U
PROTOCOL: According to the circuit under test.
LINE TYPE: According to the circuit under test.

2.  Connect the test set to the U interface, facing the switch (LT) 

using the U-2B1Q jack on the module. After connecting, T1/E1 
SIG should be green indicating a signal from the U interface. 
LP 1 SYNC should be blinking green indicating Layer 1 sync.

3.  If testing P-to-P or ETSI circuits, skip this step. For all others, 

enter the SPIDs for the circuit.
A.  Select SPID NUM 1, press SHIFT and enter using the numeric 

keypad. The SPID code for the circuit will need to be known, 
but some common types are: 01xxxxxxx0, xxxxxxxxxx0101, 
or xxxxxxxxxx01.

B.  When finished, press SEND (F1).
C.  Check the third line for the SPID status. If it has been ac-

cepted, then SPID #1 OK is displayed and LP 1 SYNC will 
be green. If wrong, it will read SPID #1 REJECT.

D.  Follow the same procedure for SPID #2.

4.  Enter the phone numbers associated with each SPID.
5.  When finished, press ESC to return to the ISDN-BRI menu 

and select CALL SETUP to configure:
CALL TYPE: SPEECH, DATA-64, or DATA-56
B CHANNEL: AUTO
DIAL NUM: Enter the number to call.

6.  When finished, press ENTER to place the call. Note that the 

on screen C1 handset icon moves to the off-hook position.

7.  If a data call has be placed, a BERT test can be performed by 

escaping from the CALL SETUP screen and selecting BERT 
AND RESULTS to run the test on the call.

9.  To  disconnect  from  the  call,  return  to  CALL  SETUP,  select 

DIAL NUM and press CALL 1HK (F1). The C1 handset icon 
should return to the on-hook position. Alternately a call can be 
disconnected from CALL CONTROL, which can be accessed 
by pressing STATUS.
