SSxDSL-5M

2.3.4.4 Self BERT Call
Use this test to quickly qualify a line for data service by perform-
ing a Data-64K call from one B-channel to the next. Then the
test set will automatically answer the call and run a BER test on
B-channel 1.

Use this procedure:
1. Confirm that the T1/E1 SIG and LP 1 SYNC LEDs are green and

that PHONE NUM 1 and PHONE NUM 2 (for North American
protocols, P-to-MP) are set in the TEST CONFIGURATION
screen.

2. Press AUTO and select SELF BERT CALL. See Figure 21.
3. If needed enter the dial prefix. For example, dial ‘9’ first to place

the call.

4. Press F4 to start. While the call is being placed, “PLEASE

WAIT TEST IN PROGRESS” is displayed.

5. When the call successfully connects, “CONNECT” is displayed

and the C1 and C2 handsets are in the off-hook position.

6. When the call has connected, the screen automatically goes

to the BERT & RESULTS screen.

7. To disconnect from the call, press ESC and then press STATUS

to display the CALL STATUS screen. Press ON-HOOK (F1) to
disconnect the call. Both C1 and C2 will now be on-hook.
