2.6

Connecting the Fibre Optic Cables

This section provides two procedures for connecting the fibre optic cables between
the host and the controller module.

■

Upgrade—you are replacing existing array controllers with A3500 FC-AL array
controllers.

■

New Installation—you are installing factory-configured A3500 FC-AL array
controllers.

Note –

Both procedures require two people to route and connect the fibre optic

cables.

2.6.1

Upgrade

Use this procedure to replace existing array controllers with A3500 FC-AL array
controllers. In this case, you will use the equipment that was shipped with your
A3500FC controller upgrade kit.

Equipment: Two FC-AL controller boards, one front panel, two 15 meter fiber optic
cables, two SCSI terminators, two cable clips, and the Sun StorEdge RAID Manager
6.22 CD and documentation set.

Note –

You may also need a 3/16-inch hex wrench to remove the side panels of the

expansion cabinet.

The front panel in the A3500FC controller upgrade kit has a new bezel to
