7.2 Removing and Installing the Midplane
7.2.1 Removing the Midplane Assembly
Note – You may have to back up the FRU ID information from the midplane before
removing and replacing it in the system. Refer to the Netra CT 820 Server Release
Notes for more information.
1. Turn off the system and disconnect it from power.
Refer to Section 2.2, “Powering Off the Server” on page 2-3 .
2. Remove the following components and their rear transition cards from the server:

See Section 5.3.1, “Removing a Node Board Set” on page 5-12
■
See Section 6.2.1, “Removing a Fan Tray” on page 6-4
3. Remove two of the upper center card guides by pulling firmly down on the ends
of each guide.
This action gives you a place to hold the top of the cage and makes it easier to pull
the cage from the system. The missing guides indicate the top of the cage when
reassembling the system.
4. Remove the four midplane assembly retention screws on the front of the
enclosure.
FIGURE 7-2
shows the location of the two retention screws on the left side of the
enclosure; the other two retention screws are in the same location on the right side of
the enclosure.
