4.1.1 Ethernet Test
The Ethernet test performs a test on the serial communication control (SCC) Ethernet
device. The Ethernet test covers Internal, External, and Phy loopback tests. The Ping
test performs a test on the fast Ethernet controller (FEC) port.

The Internal test uses the device internal loopback feature to perform an internal-
loopback test.

You will need an external loopback connector for the External loopback test. This
test sends a packet out and reads it back through the external loopback connector.

The Phy test is similar to the internal loopback test. It loops internally through the
Phy component of the Ethernet device and sends back the packet.

The Ping test uses the IP address provided by the user. It sends packets to the
designated host and performs the tests.
4.1.2 Flash Test
The Flash test reads the entire 24MB flash area and performs the checksum test.
4.1.3 Alarm Port Test
The Alarm Port test toggles all four alarm ports—Critical, Major, Minor and
Warning. It reports either a Pass or Fail status.
4.1.4 Health Test
The Health test checks the health of the system and reports the state of each slot. It
reports the slot status, whether the slot is healthy or not healthy, if the slot is empty
or occupied, and if the slot is powered on or powered off.
Note –
Do not power the boards on and off or hot-swap them while running this
test.
