Power-On Self Test (POST)
During the power-on self test (POST), the server may indicate a system fault by:
• Displaying error codes and messages at the display screen
• Beeping the speaker in a coded sequence
• Illuminating the POST LEDs, visible from the rear panel, in a coded fashion
POST Screen Messages
During POST, if an error is detected, the BIOS displays an error code and message to the screen. The following tables
define POST error codes and their associated messages. The BIOS prompts the user to press a key in case of serious
errors. Some of the error messages are preceded by the string “Error” to highlight the fact that the system may be
malfunctioning. All POST errors and warnings are logged in the System Event Log (SEL). See “Managing the
System Event Log” on page 4-14 for more details on the SEL

Note: All POST errors are logged to the SEL, which is capable of holding over 400 entries.
After the SEL is full, no further errors are logged.
