Recording to internal storage
The SAS310 can make a recording to its internal storage. This is called "local recording".
To make recordings of the streams, the following applies:
·
There must be sufficient
space on the local storage
·
A stream must be configured, it is not possible to make a recording without a configured stream
·
The recording has the same quality as the stream
The requirements for space on the local storage, the stream and the starting and stopping are elaborated
in the following sections.
Beta feature status
Recording is a beta feature: This means that it is still being tested and correct operation cannot be
guaranteed 100% of the time. In particular the following two issues should be taken into consideration:
·
There is a small chance that a recording is not made when the SAS310 starts, a restart will fix this
(this happened with 1 specific device/piece of hardware, chance of 1 in 300)
·
There is a small chance that a recording gets corrupted when the power is removed from the SAS310
(this happened with 1 specific device/piece of hardware, chance 1 in 2000)
Note that 5 other devices with each 3000 recording tests showed no failure at all.
8.1
Space on the local storage
To make a recording, sufficient space must be available on the local storage. At the start of the
recording, there must be room for at least 5 minutes of recording. If less space is available, the recording
will not start.
When space runs out during a recording and there is room for less than 5 minutes of recording, a
warning signal is sounded.
When space runs out during a recording and there is room for less than 1 minute of recording, a warning
signal is sounded and the recording is stopped.
You can configure the SAS310 to
remove old recordings
when space for recording runs out on the local
storage.

Relation between stream and recording
Because the stream and the recording are coupled, interruptions of the stream and the recording affect
each other:
