Installing the Battery, Changing the Battery

Battery type

NOTE

A battery charger suitable for the installed

battery must always be used. Incorrect battery

chargers can cause total battery failure.

Lead batteries ﬁlled with liquid electrolyte, gel

batteries, sealed acid batteries and batteries

with various different capacities are used as

traction batteries. For the discharge indicator

to work correctly, the data for the installed

battery must be set in the corresponding

onboard diagnostics menu (see "Onboard

diagnostics").

General

Changing or installing batteries is designed to

be carried out with a fork-lift truck. When doing

so, observe the following:
– Determine the weight of the battery (name

plate).

– Note the carrying capacity and load center

of the fork-lift truck.

– Note fork dimensions (required length,

maximum cross-section).

– Use personal safety equipment as required.
