CAUTION — Basket Loading

l

The weight of a basket loaded with instruments MUST NOT exceed 20 kg
(44 lb).

l

Instruments should be distributed evenly around the basket.

l

Avoid instruments contacting each other if possible.

l

Place instruments individually into the basket. Avoid tipping or dropping
multiple instruments from a bin into the basket.

l

Always process instruments in multiple wash cycles rather than load a
basket with many instruments contacting each other, even if this is within
the basket weight loading capacity.

CAUTION — Basket Manual Handling

If a loaded basket cannot be lifted and carried comfortably by one operator, it
should be treated as a two- person lift, and additional assistance sought.
Alternatively, the basket loading should be revised to reduce the weight of the
loaded basket.

Always confirm compatibility with instrument manufacturer.

l

Always follow manufacturer instructions if processing instruments with
special characteristics, e.g. fiber optics or rigid optics.

l

Always follow manufacturer instructions when processing instruments.

l

Always disassemble instruments that are designed to be taken apart,
open box-jointed instruments, and open taps on cannulated instruments.

l

Visually inspect instruments and luer hoses after reprocessing. If any
instruments are detached from hoses, or hoses appeared ruptured,
instruments should be reprocessed. Dispose of any ruptured hoses
immediately.
