The tank is refilled from hot and cold inlets. Detergent is dispensed and mixed with
tank water. When the tank is full, the fluids are heated and ultrasonics are used to
remove any dissolved gases. Washing alternates between ultrasonic irrigation and
lumen flushing and spraying. At the end of washing, the tank is emptied.

Rinsing removes chemical and any remaining soil from instruments. The tank is
emptied and then refilled for thermal disinfection. The water is heated to +91 °C
(+196 °F) and this temperature is maintained for 3 minutes. The tank is emptied
and cooled.

This wash program is locked and can only be adjusted by a manufacturer-approved
service technician.

12.4

P2: da Vinci Wash Cycle Program

The da Vinci Wash Cycle Program is validated to clean, with certainty, up to 10 Si/S
robotic instruments, or up to 6 Xi/X robotic instruments.

Instruments go through a pre-wash to dislodge visible soil and blood particles. The
use of cold water during this stage avoids blood clotting or the formation of protein
prions. At the end of pre-wash, the tank is emptied.
