7 Commissioning
Carry out the following test steps before commissioning:
- Sealing plug is attached to the free cable gland between the terminal compartment
and Ex nR housing. - Torque: 4 Nm
- Correct, tight connection of the cables.
- Seal for the Ex nR housing part undamaged.
- Assembly and installation of the housing in accordance with regulations.
- Ensure that seals and sealing systems are clean and undamaged.
- If necessary, remove foreign bodies.
- If necessary, clean the terminal compartment.
- Housing covers are correctly mounted and closed with 4 screws each.
- No damage to the housing and cables.
- Observe the operating instructions of the installed devices.

Do not put the device into operation until the test has been successfully completed.
8 Operation
To operate the device, observe the information in the "Intended use" and
"Commissioning" chapters.
9 Maintenance, overhaul, repair
Observe applicable national standards and regulations in the country of use, e.g.
IEC/EN 60079-14, IEC/EN 60079-17, IEC/EN 60079-19.
9.1 Maintenance
Check the following points in addition to the national rules:
- Tight fit of the under-clamped cables and connectors,
- Tight fit of the cables in the cable glands, if necessary check torque
- Cracking and other visible damage to the housing,
- Visible damage to the seal,
- Visible damage to the cables,
- Damage to the seal of the Ex nR housing part
- Compliance with the permissible temperatures,
- Firm seating of the fastenings and screw connections,
- Ensuring the intended use.
If access to the Ex nR enclosure part is required, observe the following:

The Ex nR housing may only be opened by qualified personnel.


If the seal is damaged
- Put the device out of operation immediately
- Replace the cover with an original part from R. STAHL.
The Ex nR Control Panel 9851 is an Ex nR enclosure without test port according to
IEC/EN 60079-15 and therefore does not require regular leakage checks with a
pressure gauge.
9.2 Overhaul
Maintain the device in accordance with the applicable national regulations and the
safety instructions in this manual (chapter "Safety").
