5-4 Removing the Gyrosphere Container from the Com-
Procedure
1. Check and note the alignment error correction value. Double check
that the alignment error correction value is correctly noted in the
setup tables.
2. Switch off the compasses main and backup power supplies and take
all the necessary precautions to make sure that the compasses main
and backup power supplies remain switched off during any removal
and installation procedures.
3. Unscrew the 5 mm hex-head screws of the compass housing door.
4. Carefully loose the door from the
housing and place the door tilted
in front of the housing. The
grounding strap may be left con-
nected to stabilize the tilted door.
Note The NAVIGAT 100 CDU cable is still plugged to socket J 14 of the NAVI-
GAT 100 mainboard and must be released before the door can be placed
aside.
5. To disconnect the jack of the
NAVIGAT 100 CDU cable, press the
socket latches with both thumbs
outwards to disengage the jack
from its socket.
6. Remove the jack from its socket.
7. Place the door aside. If the door is
put next to the housing, the
grounding strap may be left con-
nected.
