5-10 Installing the Gyrosphere Container in the Compass

In case the NAVIGAT 100 is put into operation and the CDU stays
blank, the CDU must be manually initialized by pressing the
DIM- /
Down (

) + DIM+ / Up (

)
keys simultaneously to enter operable mode,
see “NAVIGAT 100 CDU Initialisation” on page 2-10 for details.
CAUTION
Risk of damage/restricted freedom of roll and pitch
An overhanging gyrosphere supply and pick off cable may restrict the
freedom of roll and pitch of the gyrosphere container.
The gyrosphere container can only use its full freedom of roll and pitch
when the gyrosphere supply and pick off cable is pushed deeply into the
bellows and the cable length minimized.
Always make sure to deeply push the gyrosphere supply and pick off
cable into the bellows to minimize the cable length when installing the
gyrosphere container. Never allow overhanging of the gyrosphere sup-
ply and pick off cable when installing the gyrosphere container.
14. Take the gyrosphere supply and
pick off cable and push it deeply
into the bellows to minimize the
overhanging cable length.
15. Check that the gyrosphere container turns freely around the vertical.
16. To reconnect the NAVIGAT 100
CDU cable, push the jack into its
socket.

While pushing, the socket
latches engage around the
jack.
17. Put the door in front of the housing, so that the keys can be oper-
ated.

The gyrocompass is now ready to be put into operation.
